Rules v5.2 admission model

Athlete eligibility, registration and competition clearance

Rules v5.2 defines how athletes are admitted to ISF competitions through age eligibility, registration, declarations, weigh-in, division choice and secretariat clearance.

Based on ISF Rules v5.2, Sections 3, 5 and 7.

Age and documents

  • Athletes aged 13 or older on the date of competition are eligible.
  • Athletes under 18 must submit written consent from a parent or legal guardian.
  • A medical certificate is not required at registration but may be requested by organizers in advance or justified cases.

Registration confirmation

  • Registration is valid only after agreement with ISF Rules.
  • The athlete must select a sport division and complete official weigh-in.
  • The official Athlete Declaration from Section 5.5 must be completed and signed.
  • The athlete is added to the official start list only after secretariat clearance.

Categories and divisions

  • Registration records age group, weight category, sport division and all-around participation where relevant.
  • Sport divisions are Amateur, Pro and Adaptive (Adaptive is results only; ISF records are not kept for it).
  • Cross-scoring or dual scoring must be declared during registration.

Weigh-in

  • Official weigh-in takes place no earlier than 24 hours and no later than 2 hours before the competition group.
  • Organizers provide at least 1.5 hours of weigh-in time per group; bodyweight is recorded to 0.1 kg with assigned age, weight and sex categories.
  • If the category limit is exceeded, the athlete may re-weigh any number of times, in turn, only within the group weigh-in window.

Platform clearance

  • Before each attempt, the Chief Referee or authorized ISF representative verifies weight placement, outfit compliance, clean hands, dry chalk use and absence of prohibited items.
  • Non-compliant gear must be corrected before platform entry; otherwise the attempt is not counted (including retroactively), and intentional use of prohibited equipment after a warning leads to disqualification.

Appeal right

  • Athletes or accredited representatives may appeal disputed referee evaluation, technical or organizational errors.
  • An appeal against a referee decision is lodged with the President of the Jury immediately after the attempt; complaints about the conduct of the competition are submitted in writing within 60 minutes after the group session.
  • The fee (15 USD national / 30 USD international) is refunded if the appeal is upheld or made in good faith; Jury decisions are final. Medical and anti-doping matters follow a separate procedure.
  • A disqualification is appealed, as in the IPF, in writing to the Jury (if there is no Jury, to the Head Referee) within 1 hour after the session; the decision is final at the competition, and afterwards only a written complaint to ISF is possible.
